FACTs!
Here's a fact... Our seared Tuna steak has only 156.24 calories and only a minimal 0.34g saturated fat!
Eating Healthy is no-longer the sole preserve of the faddist, the weight-obsessed or even over-tanned lothario, eating healthily has become, like the carbon footprint both the concern and the mark of modern man.
Concern that is, not preoccupation which conjures-up images of self-denial and mountains of lettuce which is neither eating healthily nor the point, but today, as we sit at our restaurant tables we expect to be exposed to the whole spectrum of tastes and flavours, to travel the world of modern cuisine from the comfort of the dining chair and gain pleasure from the experience, yet sensibly we are concerned about how ‘good’ or ‘bad’ a meal is for us both physically and mentally.
With all this in mind BLACKHOUSE would like to introduce our new menu, all of our dishes are cooked with your wellbeing in mind; utilising the freshest of ingredients is key in Blackhouse cuisine, offering healthy options while not deterring from the taste, complemented by a rather decadent array of dishes including châteaux Briand, the Daddy of steaks Kobe Beef , whole lobster and grilled seabass filets complemented by clams in a cream sauce.
Here’s a fact… Adding Ostrich to your diet is a great way to reduce your fat and cholesterol intake, while still giving you a meaty meal.
Today we need to know the facts. We need to know that although a business where price will always be a factor BLACKHOUSE will use only premium suppliers and will never compromise on quality. That similarly the BLACKHOUSE fish, meat and vegetables are all delivered six days a week, keeping storage time to a minimum to lesson the deterioration of minerals and vitamins, an absolute freshness in the basic ingredients. That all ingredients are refrigerated immediately on harvest, catch or slaughter so that they are in prime condition for when the chef comes to prepare the actual dish. That at BLACKHOUSE we consciously minimise the number of products that we farm from abroad to reduce our carbon footprint and where possible we buy local, British produce.
As a restaurant the BLACKHOUSE raison d'être is to give pleasure from the dining experience, but we realise that deriving pleasure alone does not of itself define a satisfactory dining experience, it must in someway add to and not deplete our general sense of wellbeing.
Eating Healthily is less about dieting and more about the quality of diet; The modern diner’s ‘concerns’ need to be addressed on a number of levels; we need to know that what we eat is at the expense of our wallet, which we can manage directly and not at a cost to our health, or our principals, or sustainability in general - our world, and all this without compromising the need to satisfy our sophisticated palates.
Here’s a fact… did you know that BLACKHOUSE chefs fry their chips at 180oC exactly because at this temperature only a minimum amount of oil will be absorbed, keeping them light, fluffy and crisp and, just about as healthy as a chip can be?!
